The original Lava from Azores
Born from the vision of young enthusiasts for technology and design on the island of Pico, Lava - formerly Lavaimagem - blossomed from the depths of the Atlantic to achieve global reach. Today, we are synonymous with innovation in the creative industry and an essential pillar for the growth of SMEs in the Azores, contributing with R&D solutions that transcend borders.

Foundation
The company Lavaimagem – Soluções Digitais Uni. Lda. is founded by Rui Veríssimo and Pedro Maciel, who registered it at the National Institute of Industrial Property, becoming the 1233rd Portuguese brand.
2003
Bronze Medal
While creating the agency, Rui Veríssimo was still studying and won a bronze medal at the WorldSkills professional Olympics in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
2004
Picoazores.com
The agency's first digital product is launched, a daily portal for the region with a special focus on the island of Pico. It included daily news, online services, tourist promotion, and various entertainment.
2004
Web Application
Our first web system for a critical sector of the region is launched. Since then, we have maintained a relationship with Lotaçor.
2005
First International Client
Maintenance of the Asante website, a company dedicated to the development of hardware for computer networks.
2009
Largest International Project
Design of a management platform and website for the Eurodisseia internship exchange by AER, between companies and young people from 250 regions of 35 countries in Europe.
2014
Office in the “Capital”
Lava opens an office in a coworking space in the largest city of the Azores, Ponta Delgada.
2015
Homerun!
We were honored by the municipality where we were born, São Roque do Pico, with the Entrepreneurship Merit Award. That same year we were also distinguished by the Commercial and Industrial Association of Pico.

Lava moves twice, settling into the current facilities and quadrupling its original area.

Web Summit Starters
We are invited to participate in the Web Summit, thus becoming the first company from the region to be a Startup at the world's largest technology conference.

Recognition
Awarded with the Digital Business Azores Gold Prize by the Regional Government of the Azores, having already received Silver in 2018 and 2019.

Back-to-Back Championship
Achieves the highest score and first place in the idea contest promoted by the Government of the Azores for the Web Summit, after having already won the 2021 edition.

20 Years
On May 15, 2023, Lava celebrated two decades of existence in favor of the digital and economic development of the Azores.
